For the past 19 months, we have been exploring our options to help our customers with their daily email workflow. We tested various models, reviewed several options, and spoke with our customers about their AI integration preferences.

While we definitely see a strong case for integrating AI into our product, we are opposed to forcing AI on our customers (no Google or Microsoft here). In the end, it's your data and your choice.

However, as we see strong potential in AI integration, we looked further into MCP. MCP, as an open standard, offers a flexible way to connect your preferred AI tools and enhance your workflow without imposing features. Hence, without further ado, we are excited to announce the official Helpmonks MCP server.

Helpmonks MCP is the perfect solution for integrating AI into your workflow and Helpmonks. There is no chatbot bolted into your mailboxes or anything like that. How it works is that you add the Helpmonks MCP to your preferred AI client. Once connected, you can ask your AI tool to list emails, assign emails, move them, flag them, leave a note, reply, and so forth.

Why is there no AI directly in Helpmonks?

Honestly, we think the direction that email providers (and many of our competitors) are going is against the free will of their customers. No one has asked to force a chatbot on your Gmail emails or on every Microsoft product you open. However, despite what people think (and actually want), those companies keep on pushing the AI agenda.

That is not to say that we are against AI—quite the opposite. For instance, our Digital Asset Management System - Razuna - has AI baked in and does first-class enrichment for all your images, videos, audios, and documents. Furthermore, an AI file chat lets you talk directly to your files, making file management a breeze.

Then there is our latest open-source app, Kumbukum. Kumbukum provides a data and memory architecture for AI and humans. It's used in AI tools to retrieve knowledge about your organization. It works by adding URLs (think your whole knowledge base and documentation), notes, memories, git repositories, and even emails to a fully accessible central location, so all AI tools have the same knowledge and memory in real time.

We are committed to giving you control over AI tools in your workflow. These options are available for your convenience and are not mandatory, ensuring your data privacy remains protected and your work remains unchanged unless you choose otherwise.

Maintaining our core values that "your data belongs to you" and "we respect your privacy" is essential. Our approach to AI integration respects these principles, ensuring your data is not compromised or used in an invasive way.

With the Helpmonks MCP, you get the tool to use your data however you want. If you want to use AI in your Helpmonks emails, you can. If you don't want it, nothing changes.
